The competition is stiff, and if your competitors have better images, A+ content, and descriptions, customers may choose them over you. So, it’s essential that you try out different listing strategies to see what works best. This is where Amazon A/B testing & split testing come in.

Your listings are your ticket to sales, and if you want to sell successfully on Amazon, you cannot make listing optimization a one-off process. You must constantly review your listing strategies and try different ways to make them better. An easy way to do this is to run split tests on various aspects of your listings to see which strategies work best.

What if you don’t know what Amazon A/B testing is? You have to learn it because you really cannot afford to sell on Amazon without knowing how to run a split test. If you read to the end of this post, we’ll tell you all you need to know about Amazon A/B testing & split testing. You’ll also learn how to run a split test, as well as the best Amazon A/B testing tools for your business.

What are Amazon A/B Testing and Split Testing?

If you decide to sell online, then you should not joke with testing. You can not just come up with strategies. If you want to get results, you’ll have to make sure they work. And there’s only one way to know if they work — A/B testing or split testing.

Split testing on Amazon is a great way to optimize your listings by experimenting with different versions and tracking metrics like sessions, conversions, and even profit.

Copying someone else’s listing or strategies may sound like a good idea. But, on Amazon, what is good for them may not work for you, so you need to find your own way. Also, guesswork won’t get you far, so why gamble with your sales and conversions when you can just test and use what works.

Typically, split testing involves creating two or more versions of a website. In other words, if you decide to split test a page design, you create two versions, Then, run them at the same time to see which one generates better results. Since both pages will go live at the same time, some buyers will see the first while others will see the second.

Amazon A/B testing is a little different because sellers can not test two listings simultaneously. But Amazon recently updated its split testing feature to allow brand-registered sellers to run Amazon experiments at once using the “Manage your Experiments” tool.

Why Should You Take Amazon A/B Testing Seriously?

There’s so much involved in making sales on Amazon, and if you want to hit your sales goals consistently, you have to know what works. Also, if you’re already hitting your sales goal, then you’d want to exceed it, right? Definitely! Discovering what makes customers click on your listing and go through with a purchase is the first step. Running split tests on Amazon is an easy way to track conversions from different elements in your product listings.

Do the most conversions come from your main image? Are your titles the main attention-grabber? Are your descriptions doing what they should be doing? Only an Amazon AB Test can provide the answer to these questions.

For instance, if you suspect that most of your conversions come from your main image, then you’d probably want to test variations of it. Here is how split testing your main image works:

Split testing Your Main Image

To run a split test on your Amazon main image, you’ll have to create at least two variations to see which one delivers the higher conversion rate. Having a higher conversion rate means that you’re able to make more sales from a few visitors.

First, use one of the images for at least two weeks and use the second image for another two weeks. Then, review the statistics at the end of the four weeks to see which image made a major difference in conversions and sales. Of course, the image with the best conversion rate would be the best image for your listings. Let’s take a split-test example to see how this works.

Take, for instance, you sell a product for $20 and you get a 10% conversion rate using your current main image. To run an Amazon A/B test, you retain your current main image for the first two weeks of the test, while tracking critical metrics like sessions and conversion rate.

If at the end of the first two weeks your reports show that your product was viewed 1500 times and maintained a conversion rate of 10%, you’ll have:

10% of 1500 = 150 sales

150 sales x $20 = $3,000 in revenue

For the next phase of the test, you’ll switch the images and run your listings for another two weeks. If by the end of the next two weeks, your reports show that your product was viewed 1,500 times with a conversion rate of 15%, here is what you’ll have:

15% of 1500 = 225 sales

225 sales x $20 = $4,500 in revenue

The slight change in your conversion rate increased your revenue by $1,500. That’s how powerful Amazon A/B testing & split testing are.

Now you’ve seen the magic that the right image can do and how split testing can help you find the right image. Wondering if Amazon A/B testing can only work for images? Of course not, you can also split test other listing elements.

What Other Elements can You Split Test on Amazon?

Your product images are an essential part of your listings but they’re not the only listing elements that influence your conversions. Since customers cannot see the products in person, they often interact more with images. As a result, many sellers focus on their product images when they decide to split test their listings but images are not the only elements that can be tested.

After testing your images and getting the best one for your product listings, you should test your other listing elements. You can test your title, descriptions, bullet points, and even price.

Title

Your product title is displayed after the main image in your listing so it’s the first thing your customers get to read about your product. To optimize your title, you’ll have to provide detailed information about your product. Tell your customer exactly what your product is, and also include important details, such as size and functionality.

Descriptions

The description is the part of your listing where you get to sell your product and convince visitors to buy it. Amazon gives you up to 2,000 characters for your descriptions, so maximize it. Including all of the same features and benefits in your bullet points, but in greater detail, is an excellent approach. You’ll also have more room to include additional information and keywords that didn’t fit into your bullet points.

Since you’re running a split test, you’ll have to create different variations of your descriptions. Experiment with your descriptions. You can use the same features and benefits of your product but in another way. Also, test different lengths of descriptions and see which version converts more.

Price

Pricing is a major determinant of how much sales you make on Amazon. If your product is too expensive, customers may be unable to afford it and if it’s too cheap, they may assume that it’s of low quality.

It can be difficult to figure out how to price your Amazon product, but it’s not something to take lightly. Using the same format as in the image testing, try out different price points. Run one price for two weeks, then another for two more weeks. You should keep whichever pricing point generates the highest conversion rate or sales.

Bullet Points

Your bullet points allow you to go into detail about the features and benefits of your product. Make the copy informative so buyers know exactly what they’re getting, yet engaging enough to show them why they should buy your product instead of your competitor’s.

Experiment with different bullet lengths and the order of the product attributes you wish to accentuate. Customers may skip the details if your bullet points are too extensive, so keep them short and clear. Try experimenting to see if a shorter version of each bullet improves your conversion rate.

How to Run Amazon A/B Tests

If you want to sell successfully on Amazon, you cannot afford to miss out on the enormous benefits that split tests can do for your conversions. But to fully optimize your listings, you must learn how to run split tests on Amazon.

There are four different methods to run an A/B test on Amazon: Manual A/B testing, using the Manage your Experiments feature, creating a poll, and using A/B testing tools.

Manual A/B Testing

Manual split testing is a rewarding process but it may cost you money.

Use the same procedure as in the examples above to manually split test different sections of your listing. Run numerous versions of a section of your listing and track various metrics to discover which one works better.

Only test one component at a time so that you can correctly measure each modification to your listing. For instance, you can test your product images in one month, test your titles in the second, and so on.

You won’t know which component is causing the change if you test numerous components of your listing at once. Also, ensure you monitor your metrics if you decide to run a manual split test.

How to Check Your Listing Metrics

To view your data while running an Amazon A/B test, you’ll have to go through your Amazon business reports in your seller central dashboard.

  • Go to your seller central dashboard
  • Click on ‘Reports’, then click on ‘Business reports’.
  • Click “Detail Page Sales and Traffic By Child Item” on the left-hand side.

All the products you sell will be listed in this report, along with useful data like Sessions, Buy Box Percentage, Units Ordered, Product Sales, and Unit Session Percentage (conversion rate). You can also filter the results based on the time period you want to see.

This report is an excellent tool if you want to keep an eye on your products to see how they’re performing on a regular basis.

Remember, when doing an A/B test, you should give each version at least two weeks to run. This will ensure that you have enough information to make an informed decision. If your listing isn’t converting well, you may consider testing it for more than two weeks to gather more data.

Take note of the start and end dates of each version you’re testing so you know when to check your business reports. Before and after each test, check your sessions, conversion rates, and units ordered, and take note of the numbers to keep track of performance.

Analyze the data at the end of your A/B test to find which version worked better!

Use the ‘Manage your Experiments’ Feature

As we already mentioned, Amazon recently launched the ‘Manage your Experiments’ feature to allow brand-registered sellers to test two listing versions simultaneously. Brand-registered who want to save time and get results quickly should use this tool.

Unlike manual split testing, both versions will be active at the same time, and Amazon will divide customers who visit your offering into two groups at random. Version A will be shown to one group and Version B to the other during the trial.

To use the ‘Manage your Experiments’ feature:

  • Go to the ‘Brands’ tab in your seller central dashboard, then click on ‘Manage your Experiments’.

Using this tool, you can compare different variations of your A+ Content, title, and main image.

  • Click “Create a New Experiment” and select A+ Content, Title, or Main Image.
  • First, choose the experiment type, then choose your product and enter the product details you wish to test. Next, set the duration of the test. You can choose between 4 and 10 weeks, which allows Amazon to gather as much data as possible.

After you’ve finished, click “Schedule Experiment.” The wonderful thing about this tool is that you can see the split test results every week till the test is over.

Create a Poll

Another alternative is to run polls with your audience and let them tell you what they want to see.

You may conduct A/B testing on Amazon by running polls on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Tiktok where your audience is. Instagram allows you to test two image options for carousels. Request that people remark on the “A” or “B” choice.

Conducting social media polls increases your chances of getting honest responses from your audience. If they don’t like anything, you’ll be the first to know. Implement the results from the poll in your Amazon listing and observe whether your conversion rates improve over time.

Use an Amazon A/B Testing Tool

Amazon A/B testing tools are effective split testing tools that specify the listing element that drives conversions. There are numerous third-party A/B testing solutions available, each with its own set of features. You can choose from any of the options on the market, but it may be difficult to choose an affordable yet effective tool. So, what are the best Amazon A/B & split testing tools at the moment?

What are the Best Amazon A/B Testing Tools to Use?

Cashcowpro

Cashcowpro is one of the best split testing tools available on the market. The tool automatically runs tests on different variations of your current listing. It is an affordable, easy-to-use tool that frequently rotates variants of your listing to help you come up with a well-optimized one.

However, the software only allows you to test your main image and up to 100 characters from your product description. So, if you want a tool that allows you to go the whole length, Cashcowpro may not work for you.

This A/B testing tool offers a 10-day free trial after which you can cancel your subscription, pay $99.70 per month, or pay $997.00 for the year. Apart from split testing, the tool offers keyword tracking, inventory monitoring, and feedback automation features. This tool is best suited for sellers who also want access to other seller tools.

Splitly

Splitly is an alternative split testing tool that allows you to create variants of your listings, then it automatically rotates the variants. Unlike Cashcowpro, this tool allows you to test different listing elements (Price, Descriptions, Product features, Image, and Back-end keywords).

The only downside is that you can only run one product variation at a time. It starts reporting findings to you after a few days, and when it discovers the best one based on data, it finishes the test and makes the winner your listing.

The software offers four different plans that cost between $47 and $497. It also doesn’t offer a trial plan, so you’ll have to pay if you want to explore its features.

PickFu

PickFu is an excellent A/B testing tool for creating polls so you can make smarter decisions. Using this tool, you’ll be able to gather and track unbiased feedback from your audience to see if you’re selling your things correctly. It is simple to design effective product listings in order to attract enough people to purchase your stuff.

This software works outside of Amazon so your current listings will not be affected. PickFu allows you to send your poll to specialized audiences so you can obtain the most accurate and useful results. Amazon Prime members are a popular target audience. You can also target audiences based on their age, gender, fitness levels, and other factors.

Each respondent not only selects their preferred option but also provides a written explanation of why they selected it. PickFu is a useful tool for evaluating product titles, key photos, and descriptions. And you start getting your results the same day – sometimes, in about 15 minutes.

This tool offers a free plan and two paid plans that cost about $79 and $299. When you sign up for any of these plans, you can either choose to run a basic or advanced poll.

Conclusion

A simple tweak to your listing strategies could be all you need to shoot your conversions right through the roof. So, if you want to improve your conversions and maximize your potential in the marketplace, you must consistently review your strategies. Test as many listing elements as possible and check out the A/B testing tools we listed above to increase your chances of getting results from your split tests.

Good luck!

Amazon SEO: How To Increase Your Rank With The A10 Algorithm https://www.zonbase.com/blog/amazon-seo-a10-algorithm/ https://www.zonbase.com/blog/amazon-seo-a10-algorithm/#comments Mon, 27 Jun 2022 08:37:21 +0000 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/?p=11985 Did you know that a total of 1.3 million new sellers joined the Amazon marketplace in 2020 alone? Within the same year, the biggest number of new third-party sellers was also recorded in the United States. This increased the total number of sellers on the AMZN marketplace to nearly 2.8 million. (Source: Statista)

In an online selling platform as big as Amazon, how do you expect to be found? Surely, you can’t just spend money on running AMZN Sponsored Ads to get traffic, right?

This is where Amazon SEO comes into play.

Amazon SEO is the process of optimizing your product listings to rank high in AMZ’s organic search results. Some rules must be followed to run the “A10 algorithm” in your favor. Knowing and mastering these rules is the key to ranking high in the Amazon search engine results.

In this article, we’ll talk about Amazon SEO tips and how to “game the system” in your favor. We’ll also talk about the new “A10 Algorithm” previously known as the A9 algorithm and how mastering it can propel you to the top of the search results.

Ready to know more about Amazon SEO and how you can use it to gain free traffic? Then let’s get started.

What Is Amazon SEO?

Before we even tackle Amazon SEO, let us first discuss what SEO is.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the task of optimizing your content to increase visibility on a platform. Following a set of rules and algorithms, you can optimize your content and make it appear first when people search for certain keyword terms.

The easiest way to understand SEO is this. If a customer types a keyword such as “dog training” on Google, you want to be on the first page of the results. Why? Because customers rarely read the results on the second page, you will not get any traffic.

But how do you get on the first page? The answer is through SEO. You can add the keyword “dog training” in your title, create more articles surrounding the topic “dog training”, use anchor links towards your website that include the word “dog training”, and so on. By doing these processes, you are improving your credibility in Google’s eyes regarding the keyword “dog training”. Thus Google will rank you higher for this specific term.

amazon seo

Amazon SEO follows the same process. But instead of trying to rank for search engines like Google, sellers try to rank high on Amazon.

In a survey conducted by BloomReach, they found out that around 55% of customers spend time on Amazon compared to Google when they are looking to buy a product. This means that AMZN is not just an e-commerce website anymore. It has turned into a product search engine that customers use for product research too.

Knowing how to use Amazon SEO for your business will give you an advantage over your competitors. If you can rank high for a bunch of relevant keywords related to your niche, you won’t have to spend lots of money on Amazon PPC marketing.

A higher ranking also means more traffic to your listings. You’ll have more chances to get your products in front of millions of AMZN customers. We believe this is the most important reason why Amazon SEO matters.

Relationship Between Amazon Search Engine Ranking And Amazon Sales Rank

The Amazon Search Engine Ranking is directly proportional to a product’s Sales Rank. Since AMZN is an e-commerce website, it only makes sense that it will rank products that sell better than the competition. If a product sells better, then AMZN makes more money too.

The prominence of getting your product in front of customers is very important in a huge marketplace like AMZN. With millions of sellers competing in the same space, you have to get your product in front of people’s faces to entice them to buy. And this can only be done with the right knowledge of SEO.

By implementing correct amazon SEO strategies, from your product listings to your choice of relevant keywords, you can increase your visibility. With increased visibility comes more traffic, which would then convert to more sales. Thus, your Sales Rank has a direct relationship with your SEO efforts, too.

Mastering the right SEO strategies and learning more about the A10 Algorithm is crucial to your success. Let’s discuss it in the following section.

What is the Amazon A10 Algorithm?

Optimization for Amazon involves several different steps and procedures, which are all enclosed in one single algorithm.

This algorithm, also known as Amazon A10 (formerly known as A9 Algorithm), is the key to how Amazon decides who should rank first on the search result.

A subsidiary of AMZN that is based in Palo Alto, California, Amazon A10 focuses only on one thing. And that is to develop a search engine technology that is smart enough to know which products to recommend to customers based on their keyword search queries.

To rank high in the Amazon search engine results, you need to meet the standards of the A10 algorithm. Since it is considered the “brain” behind the rankings of all the products in AMZN, knowing how to utilize it to your advantage will allow you to gain an edge over your competition.

The A10 algorithm focuses on one very important thing that other search engines don’t. And that is a variable known as “revenue per click”.

Whenever someone types in a keyword, clicks on your product description, and makes a purchase, your revenue per click goes higher. Since AMZN is mainly an e-commerce website focused on making sales, the A10 algorithm gives it a great value.

AMZN favors products that can generate more revenue for its platform. Thus, you need to know the best-selling categories on Amazon and how you can make money from them.

Since it is considered the “brain” behind the rankings of all the products in AMZN, knowing how to utilize it to your advantage will allow you to gain an edge over your competition. The AI techniques and supervised learning of the machines make it possible.

What Are The Two Important Ranking Factors On Amazon?

It can be pretty overwhelming and challenging for someone who has no technical expertise to engage in Amazon Search Engine Optimization. For this reason, some sellers often hire Amazon Consultants and third-party professionals to do optimization for them. However, that doesn’t always have to be the case.

Learning about the two important ranking factors that A10 prioritizes is more than enough to get you started. After all, the A10 algorithm is a cognitive tool that learns as you give it more information.

Based on the A10 algorithm, the two most important ranking factors for Amazon SEO are:

  • Sales Velocity
  • Keyword Optimization

Sales Velocity

As we have discussed earlier, AMZN is primarily an e-commerce platform. Thus, its main priority is to make money from sales and increase its profits. Using this as a guideline, it is fairly easy to understand why Sales Velocity is one of the most important metrics in Amazon SEO.

The connection between Amazon SEO and sales velocity is pretty straightforward. The more revenue you make per click, the more A10 will prioritize your listings.

It is a no-brainer that AMZN wants sellers who can make them more money. And as a reward for sales velocity, AMZN will push your listings higher in the rankings. It is the perfect case of “you scratch my back, and I will scratch yours”.

Here are some of the most effective ways to help you increase your sales velocity:

  • Run promotions such as giveaways on your social media accounts
  • Offer discounts to your email list
  • Run profitable PPC campaigns to boost your traffic
  • Engage customers to leave more positive seller feedback through incentives
  • Improve conversion rates by doing an A/B test on your CTA (click to action)

If you want to create a buzz and get AMZN’s attention, there is no better way to do it than sales. AMZN prefers sellers who make them money and make their customers happy. Make them notice you by doing both.

Keyword Optimization

Keyword optimization is the second key to increasing your organic rank in AMZN. In any SEO process, keyword optimization is always an integral part that you have to master.

The A10 Algorithm is a smart one. But it needs guidance from people too. You need to let it know what your content is all about through keyword optimization.

The keywords that you choose are the ones that will connect you and your customers to the information that they are looking for. For example, a customer who enters a keyword such as “dog training books” is not looking for Harry Potter, right?

One of the best ways to find keywords that you can use to optimize your content is the Zonbase Keywords Tool. All you need is to enter the seed keyword that you want to target. The Zonbase Keywords tool will automatically give you all the related keywords associated with your seed keyword.

It will also give you the estimated monthly search volume of each associated keyword and its Smart Score. The Smart Score indicates how good a keyword is. A higher score means high search volume with low competition. This means the KW search term is a good one to target.

As a seller, it is your job to let AMZN know what your product is all about. This can be done in several different ways. Let me share some of these below:

Include Main Keywords In Your Product Listing

Your product listing is where your customers land. It is where you convert sales and place all the information about your product in the product description. But more importantly, it is where the A10 Algorithm scans for information to figure out what your product is all about.

Inserting the main keywords in your title, bullet points, and description is a great way to optimize your listing. Just make sure you can still provide relevant and useful information to the customers while doing keyword research. Don’t spam the listing with keywords just for the sake of doing Amazon SEO.

Use Semantic Keywords

Semantic Keywords are phrases that are closely related to the main KW that you are targeting. By using semantic keywords, you are giving the A10 algorithm more ideas about what your product is all about.

For example, if you are selling dog products and you are targeting the keyword  “dog teether”, some of the semantic keywords that you can use are “teething toy for dogs” or “bite toys for dogs”.

Through the use of semantic keywords, establishing a connection and cementing your primary niche will be easier.

How To Optimize Your Product Listings

Now that we know how important keyword optimization is, how do we use it on our product detail page? How can you add value to your product description while following Amazon SEO guidelines?

The practical application of what we learned in the previous section can be done through the following suggestions below:

Optimize Your Product Title

The product title is the first major text that your customers will see when they click on your listing. For SEO purposes, it is highly recommended that you place your main keywords on your title.

You can also add the following elements to your title to further improve your optimization:

  • Brand name
  • Model type and number
  • Color, size, or quantity
  • Weight
  • Dimensions

Through title optimization, you can instantly catch the reader’s attention. Finding the information that they are looking for will be so much easier. This can result in a higher conversion rate and increased sales velocity.

Use High-Quality Images With Alt Titles

Something that many sellers often overlook when it comes to Amazon SEO is using high-quality images.

Remember, one of the most important factors to rank high on AMZN is sales velocity. And what is one of the most effective ways to increase conversion rates? Having high-quality and informative images.

When uploading your images, make it a practice to rename them using the keyword you are targeting. This way, search engines other than AMZN can also pick up these keywords in your images. This will help you get indexed on websites such as Google Images.

Also. try to use a white background when taking your images. This will let your products blend better in the white background of Amazon. You might think this is a small thing, but removing distractions from your photos can help improve your conversion rates.

Use Bullet Points in the Product Description

Another way to improve your conversion rates is through the use of bullet points. Most customers don’t want to read a wall of text. If you can relay the information about your product using as few words as possible, this could increase your engagement. And it may even directly affect your conversion rates.

When writing bullet points, outline your product’s best attributes in one bullet point. Try to solve one problem at a time and focus on one benefit per point. This will make your content easier to digest. As long as you can close it out with an effective CTA, then your listing is good to go.

Just one thing to note – there is a 200-character limit per bullet point. So make it short and sweet, but still informative.

Listify – One of the Best Tools for Listing Optimization

When it comes to listing optimization, one of the best ways to stay on top is to emulate your competition. If something is working right for your competitors, you should also do it for your listings.

One of the best ways to reverse-engineer the listings of your competitors is through the Listify Tool by Zonbase. All you have to do is enter the URL or the ASIN of the product that you want to spy on. Listify will then return a complete list of the keywords that your competitors are using. It will also give you a complete evaluation of how you can emulate your competitor’s listing.

A nifty feature of the Listify tool is the side-by-side Listing creator. With this tool, you can write your listings while you compare them side-by-side against your competition. You can easily rewrite your optimized listing using the keywords that worked well for your competitor’s listings.

Conclusion

In conclusion, getting your products in front of millions of people can only be achieved through Amazon SEO. By understanding and mastering the A10 algorithm, you can raise your organic ranking in AMZN.

Getting traffic without having to pay for expensive PPC campaigns is a dream for many AMZN sellers. Hopefully, the tips and strategies shared in this article can help you use the A10 algorithm to your advantage.

A Guide to Profitable Amazon Product Research Strategy In 2024 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/amazon-product-research-strategy/ https://www.zonbase.com/blog/amazon-product-research-strategy/#respond Wed, 22 Jun 2022 10:28:22 +0000 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/?p=12019 The stories of making it big on Amazon as a seller are plenty. But, to be successful, every opportunity needs planning and market evaluation. Amazon is one of the largest eCommerce platforms, with a 50% share of all eCommerce sales in the United States. If you sell online, no other platform offers such massive outreach. Amazon product research is the first step to beginning your online entrepreneur journey.

People often find Amazon product analysis overwhelming because they arbitrarily look for products. That is not how you do Amazon product research; instead, there’s a workflow to follow.

This guide will explain finding the best products to sell on Amazon. We will cover everything from utilizing the insights of Google Trends to using product research tools.

What is Amazon Product Research?

The phrase is relatively self-explanatory. Amazon product research involves analyzing what products sell, like hot cake, to grab a slice of the action. The idea is to find products you can source within your budget and sell for a profit.

It sounds super simple.

But is it?

Being a profitable seller on Amazon involves extensive planning like deciding the niche, competition analysis, costs and fees calculations, etc.

Why do you need to strategize your Amazon product research?

According to Marketplacepulse, there are over 2.5 million sellers on Amazon. The eCommerce giant has an unbelievable catalog of more than 12 million products. Amidst the intense competition, 25,000 sellers were able to earn more than $1 million a year in sales.

Yet, a large number of Amazon sellers fail to break even.

Why? They never took the time to create a winning Amazon FBA product research strategy.

Amazon sells millions of products every day. The daunting number of sellers and products might be overwhelming, but it’s suitable for market research. Such many sellers and products serve as data points for product research tools.

If you use the right tool, you can instantly access critical information about best-selling Amazon products.

This Amazon product research guide will share tools for product research, trend discovery, keyword research, etc. But first, we compiled the wisdom of hundreds of experienced Amazon sellers to outline what traits you must look for in a product.

What Product Traits Are Essential To Sell On Amazon?

You can’t turn a profit with every product on Amazon. Certain items won’t even sell, so it is essential to have a strict selection criterion.

After helping over 10,000 sellers, we can confidently state that some items are best left out. Put these metrics into your Amazon product research to select the best items:

High demand: An excellent benchmark to decide whether a product is high in demand or not is to check its monthly sales. 300 sales per month, i.e., ten sales a day, is a good starting point.

Low Competition: It gets easier to sell if you pick a product not many people offer. The lower the competition, the easier it will be for your listing to rank higher in search results.

Reasonable sales price: To be a profitable Amazon FBA seller, you need to be wise with pricing. You want items that aren’t too cheap with no scope for profit or too expensive to scare off the customers. A price range of $10-$70 is ideal.

Fewer Reviews: Amazon is home to millions of sellers, making it challenging to get noticed. Focus your Amazon product analysis on niches where the top sellers have less than 400 reviews. The customers’ feedback is an integral part of Amazon’s algorithm. If you sell a product with fewer reviews, it gets easier to stand out.

Items weighing less than 5lbs: Heavy items are expensive to store and costlier to ship. If you import the product to sell on Amazon, lightweight items will reduce shipping costs. It gives you higher profit margins.

Size Below 18″ x 14″ x 8″: Just as heavier products cost more, bigger products also need more shelf space and cost higher to ship. Choose smaller items to keep costs low.

4x selling price: It is best to choose Amazon FBA products that you can sell for roughly four times the costs of sourcing them.

Most successful sellers use the above filters in their Amazon product research. They also recommend selling everyday-use items as they sell well on Amazon. Experienced sellers use these traits to pick the best products to sell on Amazon.

If you can’t figure out a product to sell at this point, don’t worry. There is more to learn. Let’s dive deeper to understand Amazon product research further.

A checklist of what to avoid

We will keep it short. Check this checklist to avoid known pitfalls while researching a product to sell on Amazon.

  • Never choose a tiny niche. It will throw you out of the active market as your product will not get noticed, hence sold.
  • Don’t set item prices low just to generate sales. Often sellers make the mistake of pricing items lower than the competition pricing without analyzing its logic. Your competitor might have a sourcing or logistic strategy to manage the profit margins. Don’t chase their pricing; instead, decide on a selling price relevant to your profit margins.
  • Always calculate costs and fees before setting the price. Don’t underestimate the impact of Amazon’s fee on your final revenue.
  • Move over undifferentiated products; Amazon is no longer the same. If you think you can private label China-sourced yoga mats, BBQ gloves, or chargers and make a huge profit, you are in for a surprise.
  • Not improving the product after researching poor reviews. It’s common sense to offer a better product to satisfy customers’ demands. That’s how you sell more and enjoy more profit too.

Tools for Amazon Product Research

Ahrefs Keyword Explorer

The next step in selling on Amazon is to drive traffic to your chosen product. Optimizing the product descriptions is one thing, but you want to use low competition keywords. These keywords will show your products in Google Ads and Amazon search results.

How do you find such low-competition keywords?

We recommend Ahrefs Keyword Explorer.

Not many sellers know, but Ahrefs can be an excellent Amazon product research tool. Here’s how you can use the tool for keyword research:

  1. Open Ahrefs Keyword Explorer and enter 5-10 product niche ideas
  2. From the left pane, click All Keyword Ideas
  3. Set the Filter for Keyword Difficulty to less than 10
  4. Set SERP features to only ‘Include Shopping Results’
  5. Click on filtered keywords to see their SERP Overview
  6. On the SERP overview page, look for low Domain Rank (DR) sites

What you do here is to sort the SERP results for shopping keywords. If there are several low DR sites on Google for a niche, it implies less competition.

We searched within the ‘home and garden’ niche in our example. We found many keywords with less competition, such as rain showerheads.

Spy on eBay to find the best products with WatchCount.com

Another tool you can use for Amazon product research is WatchCount.com. While it is a tool that tells you what’s selling hot on eBay, you can still exploit it for Amazon FBA product research. The site operates in real-time. You can find the most popular eBay items at any time. The data is taken from the eBay feed directly, which tracks votes by users when they add items to their watch list.

You can look for top-selling eBay products in your niche and then narrow them down to items that have the potential to sell on Amazon. The site lists products based on the number of watchers. It also offers some unique search capabilities to find best-selling products.

Research Trending Topics on Google Trends

If you want to find out the products that will fly out of the door, take your Amazon product research to Google Trends.

Google Trends is a tool that shows users how popular a search term is over a period of time. With Google Trends, you can quickly narrow down the options from the list you have created so far. It gets easier to find the most popular products using insights provided by the service. Irrespective of the niche, you can use the latest Google Trends to understand what’s selling more.

You can customize Google Trends results based on location, duration, category, and result type. Here is the result of the ‘pet food’ search. Pay attention to the trending topics and queries at the bottom of the result.

Investigate the ‘Customers Also Bought’ and ‘Frequently Bought Together’ product listing sections

Another great Amazon product research tactic is to explore the sections beneath the main product listing. To the investigating eyes, these sections can provide insightful product ideas.

Experience Amazon FBA sellers know that it’s not only the product research that pays off well. Understanding your potential customers’ thoughts and buying process sets you up for long-term success.

Customers Also Bought and Frequently Bought Together sections help you understand what your target customers want. Furthermore, you discover opportunities to create unique product bundles.

You can combine frequently bought products to create a fantastic combo that sells fast. As a seller, you must dig deeper into the available data on Amazon. That’s how you beat the competition.

Personalized product recommendations are highly effective. According to BigCommerce, over 70% of businesses across industries get positive ROI with a personalized offering.

Find product-market gaps with Amazon reviews

You don’t have to try too hard to sell when you have products to offer that solve a problem or fulfill a requirement. Knowing what customers want on Amazon makes it easier to decide what products to sell. Some sellers might have the budget to form focus groups to get direct customer feedback about desired products and likes and dislikes. But not all sellers have such time and budget.

How do you do market research to find product gaps?

You scour through Amazon customer reviews to understand the market and what customers want. It is simple if you wonder how you can mine reviews for Amazon product research.

Break down your analysis to these questions:

  • What items people are excited about
  • Explore comments by unsatisfied customers to find out what leaves them disappointed about a product
  • Match the complaints with your product offerings and modify your prospective product

Amazon reviews are a treasure trove of market research for FBA sellers. You get honest opinions from people who have used a product. This information guides the decision on what products to sell or any modification required in products.

Alibaba for White Label Products

Selling white label products is immensely popular on Amazon. If you want to sell white labels, Alibaba is an excellent resource to find such products.

Decide what kind of white label products you want to sell on Amazon. Electronics and imitation jewelry are two categories that are popular among white label sellers.

Once on Alibaba, you can search for items based on their popularity, the number of sellers, and ratings.

Zonbase Tool Suite

Zonbase offers you a complete suite of Amazon tools to do market research and find trending products to sell. Our Hot Products tool helps sellers find products that sell fast. If you want to sell trendy products within a category or during certain months, Hot Products can help. It lists products based on their latest ranks in the last few days, weeks, and months. This tool is a great reference to include hot-selling items in your store.

ZonResearch is another gem of an Amazon product research tool powered by ZonBase’s extensive proprietary database with more than 20 million products. Quickly find potential home-run products with high demand, low competition, and high-profit margins with ZonResearch’s custom search.

But that’s not all. We have 13+ tools for Amazon sellers to try.

Tactical Arbitrage vs ZonBase: Best Arbitrage Tool For Sellers https://www.zonbase.com/blog/tactical-arbitrage-vs-zonbase-review/ Sun, 22 May 2022 12:44:23 +0000 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/?p=13297 Are you interested in starting an Amazon business with little capital? Selling through online or retail arbitrage is the easiest way around it. The online arbitrage model allows you to source products from wholesalers online and then resell them on Amazon. If you decide to use this business model, you’ll have to find the best retail bargains to maximize your profit.

ZonBase and Tactical Arbitrage are two tools you should know how to use if you intend to go into reselling on Amazon. We’ll compare both tools in this Tactical Arbitrage vs ZonBase review to see which one works best.

Ready? Let’s get right into it.

Related: Getting started with Retail Arbitrage

Overview: Tactical Arbitrage

Tactical Arbitrage is an online arbitrage product sourcing tool that helps arbitrage sellers discover the most profitable products to resell. Not all products are suitable for reselling on Amazon. Some products offer a very slim profit margin, and reselling them on Amazon will only put you at risk of making losses. Using this tool, you can scan through thousands of product options on different retail websites to choose the most profitable ones for your store.

When you sign up for the software, you access a search feature that allows you to scan through different third-party websites. It also allows you to compare product prices on these websites, so you can select the items selling at a lower price than they are on AMZN.

With Tactical Arbitrage, you can also stay on top of bargaining opportunities since the tool constantly brings you opportunities to buy low and sell high. You can scan through entire websites or restrict your search to selected categories using filters. Product research is where this tool shines, but it also has other features.

Overview: ZonBase

ZonBase is an Amazon software that offers a complete set of tools that help sellers automate crucial business processes. ZonBase offers an effective set of product research, keyword research, and listing optimization tools. In addition to these tools, the software also offers a photo enhancement service, sales estimation, and a profit tool.

Unlike Tactical Arbitrage, ZonBase can work for every Amazon business model. Tactical arbitrage offers mainly product sourcing features, but it doesn’t tell whether or not the product options will sell well on Amazon. In contrast, with ZonBase, you get access to a list of products guaranteed to sell on AMZN. You also get access to a list of authentic and affordable suppliers to source them from.

Tactical Arbitrage vs ZonBase: Unique Features

Tactical Arbitrage Features

Although its search feature is its most talked-about feature, the software also offers other useful features. Some of these are listed below:

  • Wholesale search: The Tactical arbitrage wholesale feature allows you to scan different wholesale offers to find profitable product options.
  • Vast Database: Tactical Arbitrage has an extensive database of reliable retail websites like eBay, Costco, and Walmart for you to search through.
  • Reverse Search: This method allows you to look through a list of products (from categories or ASIN CSV files) to locate items that are priced lower than they may be on Amazon. You’ll be shown where to acquire the item, which you can then buy and sell on Amazon for a profit.
  • ROI Forecast: With this feature, you can access the potential profitability of any product you decide to sell. In other words, you’ll be able to calculate the return on your investment for any item you choose.
  • Review Existing Inventory: Tactical Arbitrage integrates with your existing shop and helps you locate profitable items from your current or previous inventory. Look for them and rapidly source things that are already selling well for you.
  • Amazon Flips: This strategy is scouring Amazon for things that are cheap enough to acquire, then relisting them at a higher price to make a profit.

ZonBase Features

  • Retail arbitrage product research and FBA calculator app: ZonBase recently launched a retail arbitrage mobile app that allows sellers to scan product barcodes and access important product and sales information before making product decisions. The tool also serves as an FBA calculator that helps sellers to calculate and obtain accurate profit estimations without much stress.

  • Product Research tools: ZonBase product research tools dive deep into Amazon’s database to bring you the most profitable product options for your business. The software offers two main product research tools: ZonResearch and Hot Products. These tools bring you the best-selling products on Amazon at the snap of a finger. You’ll also gain access to a list of authentic suppliers to source them.
  • Keyword Research Tools: In addition to product research tools, ZonBase also offers a set of keyword research tools to help you generate relevant keywords for your listings.
  • Listing Optimization Tools: Using ZonBase listing optimization tools, you can get the algorithm on your side. Thus, increasing your visibility and by extension, your conversions.
  • Inventory forecasting and profit tracking tools: ZonBase offers a profit tracking tool that doubles as an inventory forecast tool. With this tool, you can keep track of your profit margin and maintain your inventory without having to log in to your seller central dashboard.
  • Photo Enhancement: Product images go a long way on Amazon. Even if you have the best products in stock, if your images are unattractive, you’ll lose quite a number of sales.
  • Reverse search: ZonBase offers a Reverse ASIN tool that allows you to get into the back end of your competitors’ listings. Using this tool, you can see what keywords your competitors are ranking for.

What crosses your mind when you encounter a Tactical Arbitrage vs. ZonBase review? It is most likely that these tools are very distinct. Yes, they are, but they also have some features in common. However, while one focuses on arbitrage product research, the other focuses on all aspects of your Amazon business.

Is tactical arbitrage worth it? Is ZonBase better than Tactical Arbitrage? You’ll be able to decide shortly. However, the best software for you depends on your business goals and needs.

Tactical arbitrage is unarguably one of the best arbitrage websites in 2022. But business needs and goals differ from seller to seller, so you have to define your goals and weigh your options before settling for either tool.

Pros and cons are essential factors when weighing your options and choosing between different high-performing software. This Tactical Arbitrage vs ZonBase review aims to help you make an informed choice. So, we’ll consider the pros and cons of both tools to help you choose the best one for your business.

Pros And Cons

Here are the pros and cons of using Tactical Arbitrage and ZonBase:

The Pros of Using Tactical Arbitrage

  • Seamless product research: Using this tool, you can save time on your product research process. All you have to do is to enter a website name into tactical arbitrage and it will generate a list of the best products for you to resell.
  • Makes the online arbitrage model easy to set up: Since you’ll no longer have to spend so much time combing the internet for the best deals, you can set up your business with ease.
  • Vast product database: Tactical Arbitrage has a vast product database from over 1000 marketplaces and allows you to find the best products in one place.

The Pros of Using ZonBase

  • Availability of a mobile app: ZonBase offers an easy-to-use mobile app that makes product sourcing for retail arbitrage a breeze. Sellers no longer have to spend long hours behind a laptop before being able to make product decisions.
  • Unique Assortment of Tools: ZonBase offers an excellent assortment of tools that sets you up for success on Amazon. Every area of your business will be fully automated, and you will not have to worry about anything.
  • Pocket-friendly prices and flexible plans: The software offers three paid plans; the Standard plan at $37/month, the Legendary plan at $67/month, and the Diamond Plan at $132/Month. And that plans give you access to all the tools. Also, there’s a 7-day free trial available for sellers who want to explore the features of both plans before settling for one.
  • Outsourcing option: There are so many processes involved in scaling an Amazon business, and beginners may find these tasks overwhelming. ZonBase offers done-for-you services that allow sellers to outsource major business processes to a team of experts.

The Cons of Using Tactical Arbitrage

  • Cost: Even the most basic package costs $50 per month, which is quite expensive. Plus, you can’t even utilize the product search feature with it. You’ll have to pay $70 a month to gain access to this. It will cost you $95 per month to use all of the tools.
  • The affordable plans don’t cover product research: Tactical arbitrage is mainly a product research tool, but the most affordable plans do not give access to its product research feature. If you want to use the tool for product research, you’ll have to sign up for the most advanced plan.
  •  It needs an Amazon seller account to run: You must have an Amazon seller account in order to use Tactical Arbitrage. This implies that even if you want to enjoy the free trial, you must first create an Amazon account.
  • It doesn’t do product research: The tool can show you where to get the most affordable deals for the products you want to sell. But it cannot tell you if they’ll sell well on AMZN. To identify best-selling items on Amazon, you’ll need to use an Amazon product research tool, preferably one that can check competitor performance and sales trends.

The Cons of Using ZonBase

  • All the regular features are available on the paid plans, but if you want to access the done-for-you services, you’ll have to pay additional fees.
  • ZonBase provides minimal options to handle the subsequent sales process, despite having a multitude of tools to assist you with product research, keyword research, optimization, and launch.

Tactical Arbitrage vs ZonBase: Pricing

Tactical arbitrage and ZonBase are undoubtedly great tools for researching products for your arbitrage business. But neither of them is free, so before you get too excited, you should first know the cost.

Tactical Arbitrage Cost

Tactical arbitrage offers five paid plans that range from about $50 – $95.

Here is a list of their many packages and their prices:

Online Arbitrage + Wholesale: As the name implies, this plan gives you access to both the online arbitrage and wholesale search features.

Full Suite: This is the most expensive plan, for obvious reasons. On this plan, you get access to tactical arbitrage’s complete set of tools.

Tactical arbitrage also offers a 7-day free trial for sellers who would like to explore the different features before choosing a paid plan.

ZonBase Cost

ZonBase offers two paid plans and a 7-day free trial. Here’s what you get on either plan.

Standard plan: This plan costs $37/month and gives you limited access to all ZonBase tools apart from the PPC automation tools.

Legendary plan: This plan costs $67/month and gives you unrestricted access to all ZonBase tools.

Diamond plan: This plan costs $132/month and gives you unrestricted access to all ZonBase tools along with Amazon FBA Master Class Course and Weekly QnA Session with Amazon Expert.

Is Tactical Arbitrage Worth It?

So, is tactical arbitrage worth it? That depends on your budget and business needs. If you need a wholesale or flip tool, you can sign up for any of those plans. But if what you need is a tool that shows you where to get the best arbitrage deals, you’ll have to sign up for the most expensive plan at $95. And if you’re on a budget, you may not be able to afford it. This is where tactical arbitrage alternatives come in.

ZonBase is an affordable alternative to tactical arbitrage. The software shows you the best product options for your store, but it also shows you a list of suppliers from which to source your product. If what you want is a tool that caters to every aspect of your Amazon business, then ZonBase is a worthy alternative.

ZonBase vs Tactical Arbitrage Review: Which One is Better?

Online arbitrage is a great way to make money from a large marketplace like Amazon. The business model is easy to set up and scale, even easier when you have the help of high-tech tools like ZonBase and Tactical Arbitrage.

Both tools are great to have in your arsenal. However, tactical arbitrage focuses more on product sourcing outside of Amazon, thereby leaving other aspects of scaling your business to chance.

Successful sellers know that nothing should be left to chance when building a profitable business. Unlike Tactical Arbitrage, ZonBase doesn’t only help you find and source profitable products, it also provides tools that cut across all other areas of an Amazon business. With ZonBase, you can rest assured that all aspects of your business are covered.

In terms of the overall analysis, ZonBase is a better option compared to Tactical Arbitrage. However, it is up to you to decide what is best for your business.

Amazon Seller Competitor Analysis: 6 Strategies for Success https://www.zonbase.com/blog/amazon-seller-competitor-analysis/ https://www.zonbase.com/blog/amazon-seller-competitor-analysis/#respond Wed, 27 Apr 2022 18:15:53 +0000 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/?p=12007 Research is a vital part of running an Amazon business. Any seller worth their salt knows that you have to research profitable products, reliable suppliers, and high-converting keywords before starting an Amazon business. And research does not end after you have launched a product; it is a continuous process. But there’s a component of research that is often overlooked — and that’s Amazon seller competitor analysis.

Nearly 2 million small and mid-sized businesses are third-party sellers on Amazon marketplaces across the globe. So, if you sell on Amazon or intend to, you can be certain that many of those sellers already sell products similar to yours. In other words, you’ll be competing with thousands of sellers for a piece of the pie. Without the right strategy, you’ll only be left with crumbs. If you want to succeed in this fiercely competitive marketplace, you need to know how other sellers are running their businesses.

In this article, we’ll cover the top strategies for Amazon seller competitor analysis so that you can start dominating the market.

Let’s dive in.

What is Seller Competitor Analysis?

Amazon seller competitor analysis is the process of researching your competitors and using the insights gained to your advantage. This involves analyzing their pricing strategy, their product listings, keywords they rank for, their branding and marketing efforts, and so on.

The goal is to find out what makes them successful, learn from their mistakes, and use this information to improve your business strategies.

Why Do I Need an Amazon Seller Competitor Analysis?

Many sellers know that they have competitors but don’t think it’s necessary to keep up with them. Besides, sellers already have many tasks to grapple with and may be unable to find time for competitor analysis.

But if you’re serious about growing your business, analyzing your competitors is not an option. Carrying out an Amazon seller competitor analysis will help you:

  • Spot potential gaps in the market that your business can fill
  • Determine if a product idea is worth pursuing during the research stage
  • Identify weaknesses in your product listings and how to improve upon them
  • Maintain competitive pricing for your products
  • Discover how to distinguish your products from competitor products

Now that you know the benefits of analyzing your competitors’ business, how do you know who exactly you’re competing against?

Amazon Seller Competitor Analysis: Finding Your Competitors

There are over 2.5 million sellers on Amazon, and the competition is stiff. One way to beat the competition is to find profitable products and come up with other strategies. However, the journey to building a successful business does not start and end with finding profitable products.

To secure a sizeable chunk of the Amazon pie, you’ll have to compete for your share. And how do you do that without checking out your competitor’s product and marketing strategies? Again, the place of an Amazon seller competitor analysis cannot be overemphasized.

So, you’ll have to find your competitors and check them out to see what they’re doing right and what you can improve on. To find your competitors, start by conducting an Amazon search for your product ideas. You can begin by typing in a bucket keyword and seeing what comes up in the search results. For a broad keyword, competition will be fierce, but as you narrow down your search, the number of direct competitors will reduce. These last sets of competitors are the ones you should target.

For instance, you intend to sell shoe racks on Amazon. Of course, there are many different types of shoe racks already listed on Amazon. You have 3-tier stackable, 4-tier expandable and adjustable, and under-bed shoe storage or rack. Now, let’s assume what you want to sell is a 4-tier shoe rack. A broad search for “shoe rack” will produce the following results.

As expected, we find a wide range of shoe racks to choose from. Although all of these shoe rack sellers are technically competitors, the goal is to target long-tail, niched-down keywords that are far more unique to your actual product. Now, we’ll look for a 4-tier shoe rack.

The majority of these search results show 4-tier shoe racks only — instead of over 20 different types of shoe racks. The products in the search results for this exact keyword are the major competitors you should target.

How to Carry Out Competitor Analysis

The first step to conducting an Amazon seller competitor analysis is to analyze your competitor product listings. The goal is to spot their strengths and weaknesses and develop new ways to outrank them. So, here are a few tips to help you analyze your competitors.

Identify the keywords you want to rank for

If you want to succeed on AMZN, you must be intentional about developing effective strategies for visibility. And it is impossible to gain visibility on Amazon if your listings are not well-optimized. Keywords play a major role in listing optimization, so you must focus on keyword research. Try as much as possible to target keywords that your audience is most likely to use when searching for your product.

You can carry out keyword research manually, but it’s best to use keyword research software. Wondering why? There are thousands of keyword phrases, and you definitely can’t rank for them. So, you’ll have to choose from these keywords and then target the best ones for your store. Of course, trying to do this manually will be time-consuming, stressful, and overwhelming. Hence, the need for effective keyword research tools.

Using the ZonBase Reverse ASIN tool, you can get into the behind-the-scenes of your competitors’ listings. Here’s how the Reverse ASIN tool can help you uncover the keywords that your competitors already rank for.

  • Open the Reverse ASIN tool and enter the basic details
  • Run an Amazon search to copy the Product URLs for at least three competitor listings. Then, paste them into the Reverse ASIN tool.
  • The results show your product rank and competitor rank on the search results page for different keywords. You can also see the monthly search volume, smart score, frequently used words, and word frequency.

Carry out a survey of the market

The next step is to search for your primary keywords. This will assist you in gaining a better understanding of the major players in your product category. After a few searches, you’ll see which businesses are now dominating your product market.

Only look at the first and second pages of results for your important keywords and note any trends you notice, such as terms that frequently appear in titles, the main images, the average number of product reviews, and who dominates the sponsored advertising. This will assist you in determining the competitors and providing insight into how you might position yourself.

Go through the search results page and look for ways to make your listing stand out. This way, you increase your chances of getting noticed by buyers. Although this may not make them go ahead to buy from you, it does give you an edge over other listings, especially those that look very similar. Here are a few things to look out for when trying to make your listings unique:

Titles

Your title should be optimized for two purposes: to inform the buyer about your product and to help the algorithm fix your listing where it belongs. So, when you survey the search results page, take notice of the keyword phrases used in the title by your top competitors.

Is there anything you could add or delete to improve the title of your product? Are your competitors omitting important product information your customers would like to see at first glance? These are some things to consider while crafting a compelling product title.

Images

Images are a significant selling element. Because a buyer cannot touch, feel, or see a product before purchasing it, you must ensure that your listing has the highest-quality product images and infographics possible.

Examine the main photos of each of your competitors in the search results below. In what ways to make your main image stand out in search results? Do things differently and find better ways to make your images unique.

Descriptions

Your descriptions are the next important part of your listings, and of course, you should bring your A-game. Ensure your product descriptions are clear and detailed, but not too long. Please pay attention to how your competitors write their descriptions. How would you describe the tone? What traits and advantages do they emphasize? What information is lacking that would be beneficial? Also, use relevant keywords and bullet points in your descriptions. Avoid using too many filler words, and keep your descriptions straight to the point, so you don’t bore buyers.

Reviews and Ratings

What are customers saying about the products of your competitors? What are the objects’ sources of suffering for them? What aspects of their purchases do they enjoy?

Use customer reviews to identify flaws in your competitor’s product and listing. If a review says the item has wrong or missing information, you’ll know to offer accurate and complete product information in your listing.

How can your product assist a customer in resolving a problem with a competitor’s product? This is an excellent time to highlight the advantages of purchasing your product, so be sure to include that information.

Listing optimization is not a walk in the park, but with the right software, you can ace listing optimization. With ZonBase’s Listify tool, you can spy on your competitors’ listings and take cues from their listing elements. Without ZonBase, your seller competitor analysis is incomplete. With ZonBase’s keyword and listing optimization tools, you can generate relevant keywords for your listings and then imitate your competitors’ listing strategies.

Here’s a faster way to research keywords and optimize your listings

  • Go to the ZonBase Listify tool and provide all the basic details, like product URL and keywords. Once this is done, a list of relevant keywords will come up. Of course, using these keywords in your listings will improve your conversions.
  • Under the Listing Analysis section, you can see all the technical analyses of the product listing you have chosen as your reference.
  • Scroll down to the listing optimization section. You’ll see a breakdown of your competitors’ titles, descriptions, and bullet points there. You can then create your listings using this insight.

Don’t want to get involved in all this work? You can outsource your listing optimization needs to our team of experts when you sign up for our Listing optimizer service.

Keep an eye on your competitors’ pricing.

Pricing plays a major role in determining whether a customer purchases an item or not. Buyers almost always choose the less expensive product out of two similar products with similar review scores.

Since the goal is to earn reasonably, you must fix favorable prices. To secure a space for yourself on AMZN, you must understand the market’s price history. If the price of the goods you’re selling or interested in constantly selling changes, it may not be a good market for you. The easiest way to stay on top of price changes is to use a price tracker.

Keep tabs on your competition’s monthly sales.

Following your competitors’ sales will give you a decent idea of how much inventory they’re holding and how much profit they’re earning. It also tells you whether or not the niche or market in question is healthy.

You don’t want to invest in a declining market or experiencing low demand. Tracking your sales makes it easier for you to develop strategies to scale your business. Launching a product that no one wants to buy is the last thing you want to do.

Wondering how to track competitor sales? You can use the ZonBase sales estimator tool to check out previous sales history and sales trends of potential products. So, here’s an easy way to see previous sales trends for any product:

  • Just run a search on AMZN for the product you want to track, then copy the product ASIN.
  • Next, open ZonBase’s sales estimator tool, choose your marketplace, paste the product ASIN you copied, then click on “Calculate sales.”

Voila! All the sales information you need is at your fingertips.

Check out your competitors’ marketing strategies

You can learn a lot by looking at how your competitors market their products. Their marketing strategies determine how much sales they make, so you must take cues from them. The best way to beat a competitor is to check their strategies and improve them. Observe their listings, descriptions, copy, images, and packaging designs. What kind of ads do they usually run? What off-Amazon advertising methods do they use?

Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  • How do they use social media?
  • What is their customer base like?
  • What platforms do they use?
  • What is their posting frequency?
  • What is their engagement rate?

Use the Q&A feature to find your customers’ pain points

Use the Q&A feature to discover the important details that your competitors were unable to find in your competitors’ listings. Then, spice up your listings with these details using bullet points. Remember that the more time a consumer spends researching a product, the longer it takes to make a decision. So, try to cover as much ground as possible and convince potential buyers in the shortest time possible.

Make a list of the frequently asked questions and include the answers in your bullet points and explanation. For instance, if you see a question like “How do I maintain this hair?” in your competitors’ listings, you can provide the answer to this question in your description.

To find the questions, simply scroll to the end of the listing.

What Is An Amazon Niche?

Before we delve deep into choosing products and categories, we should first define an Amazon niche. By definition, a “niche” is a smaller representation of a bigger segment or subdivision. It could focus on particular interests, demographics, location, beliefs, and other criteria. In layman’s terms, it can also be referred to as a “submarket”.

Let us have an example. If we have a market segment of “dog owners”, then an example of a niche would be “Siberian husky owners” or “German Shepherd owners”. The former is the whole representative of the target market segment. The latter are examples of niches that exist within the bigger market segment.

Similarly, if we have a bigger market segment called “phone owners”, then examples of niches would be “Blackberry owners” or “Nokia 3210 owners”.

Why Is Having A Niche Important For Sellers?

So why is a niche important for sellers anyway? Well, think about it this way. If you are a restaurant owner, would you rather sell anything you can cook, or focus on a specific cuisine such as Thai, Japanese, or Chinese? If you are a game developer, would you develop games on all consoles, or focus on either Playstation or X-Box?

The answer is simple. Niches are much more targeted segments and sections of any general population. Because they are smaller and more concise, they are also much more refined and predictable regarding what they want.

Niches Are More Profitable

If you try to sell basketball shoes to a large group of people with no specific niche, how many would be willing to buy them? The answer is probably not many. Not all people are into basketball, and not many will spend money to buy shoes that they won’t use.

However, if you try to sell basketball shoes to a group of basketball players and basketball enthusiasts, you are more likely to make a large number of sales. Because your audience is already “niche” and targeted, they are much more likely to engage with something they can relate to. Hence, they can be more profitable to sell compared to the general population.

Niches Are Less Competitive

Another reason why targeting niches is important for sellers is that there is less competition. If you are selling a generic item, you’ll be more likely to be pushed away by big brands spending millions on their marketing efforts. You won’t have the machinery to compete against them.

But if you are selling a niche item and targeting a smaller group of people, you can fly under the radar. You can avoid competing with behemoth brands and start carving your piece of the pie. The competition you’ll face when selling a niche item isn’t as fierce as what you’d get if you sell an available product.

Niches Have Engaged and Loyal Customers

Niches are just like small towns. Everybody knows each other. And because everyone knows each other, they are more likely to support the businesses that cater to them.

Similarly, a niche is more likely to have engaged and loyal customers who keep returning for more. This is especially true if you are catering to a small niche that doesn’t have a lot of businesses providing them with the products they need.

Having a niche is like carving your little space in the heart of the AMZN community. This can be a great thing for new sellers who are too intimidated to start selling in large, competitive categories.

Is Going For A Niche Product Better For AMZN Beginners?

First-time AMZN sellers usually don’t have enough experience yet to dive in the water with the big fishes confidently. And understandably so. According to eDesk, there are over 10 million sellers on AMZN worldwide as of 2021 (Source: eDesk). This means that you are competing in a cutthroat environment where the chance of survival is slim if you don’t make the right decisions.

Without experience, it could be very easy to make the wrong decision when choosing what products to sell. And selling the wrong ones can drain your capital and sink your business to the ground. If you sell an item with little demand and high competition, you won’t be able to recoup your investments.

For example, if you try to go for an item such as “Adidas basketball shoes”, it would be near impossible for you to rank high for it. Even with exact search engine optimization skills, you won’t be able to compete against Adidas itself. And if you can’t compete with Adidas, what chance do you have against the company’s authorized dealers?

Yes, you can sell Adidas basketball shoes on Amazon, but it is doubtful that you will make a living out of it unless you can secure an exclusive distributor contract, which is also very unlikely to happen if you are just a newbie third-party seller on AMZN.

Instead of selling Adidas basketball shoes, why don’t you try selling something like a shoe cleaner instead? People who purchase basketball shoes will need something to clean their expensive shoes. It is a different demand that needs to be filled, and Adidas isn’t in the business of shoe cleaners. This is where you come in and fill the demand.

Going for niches is better for beginners because of the low competition. Aside from that, you can be sure that your product is well-targeted to the community of people you are selling to.

8 Tips On How To Choose The Perfect Amazon Niche and Product

Ready to know the 8 tips for choosing the perfect niche and product for your business? We’ll discuss them below:

Tip #1 – Check out the market competition

This is probably one of the most important things to do before selling in any niche on Amazon. If you want to make sales, your goal should be selling in niches that have high market demand and low competition. This makes it easy for you to sell your products quickly and get more conversions from your ads.

Avoid going into a saturated marketplace especially if you do not intend to sell private-label products. Selling private-label products can help increase your chances of outranking your competitors, however, you should not completely rely on this.

Tip # 2 – Choose a product with good profit margins

The whole reason why you are selling on AMZN is to make money. So when choosing a niche item, you should always go for those with good profit margins. You must look at other sellers on the platform and check how much they sell their products. This will give you an idea of whether selling your niche product is worth it or not.

When it comes to finding products with good profit margins, Zonbase has one of the best Amazon niche-finder tools. This is called the Zonbase Chrome Extension tool, and it helps sellers discover Amazon FBA product ideas. It also helps sellers measure the profitability of a product with just a click of a button.

One of the best features of Zonbase is its profit estimator. All you have to do is fill in the blanks with your estimated selling price, target ROI (return on investment), and estimated selling fees, and watch it work its magic.

With the Zonbase Chrome Extension tool, finding a product with a good profit margin can be done during the initial research phase. This will allow you to have enough information to make data-driven decisions for your business.

If you are interested in seeing what Zonbase can do, click this link to sign up for a free trial.

Tip # 3 – Check Youtube if there are lots of videos on the niche product

One of the easiest ways to check if you are selling an already saturated item is to check Youtube. If you are selling something with lots of videos talking about it, that isn’t a niche product anymore. An item isn’t going to be in the least competitive Amazon product categories if it has lots of videos on Youtube promoting it.

Competition is one of the most important factors when choosing your product. And one of the best ways to check for the competition is not only by checking AMZN. You have got to check other huge content websites such as Youtube as well.

Tip # 4 – Dimension and Weight are important

When it comes to shipping, handling, and delivery of items, dimension and weight play a big role. Oddly shaped, heavy, bulky products will cost a lot more to ship and will take away some of your profits, When choosing the perfect product, pay attention to the product dimension and weight so you won’t have to pay extra for shipping and handling.

Tip # 5 – Choose an FBA-friendly niche product

When choosing the right Amazon niche product for you, there are many things to consider. More importantly, you should ask yourself if you are going to use FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) or FBM (Fulfillment by Merchant).

FBA means that AMZN will be the one fulfilling your customers’ orders. When a customer makes an order, AMZN will be the one to pick, pack, wrap, handle, and ship the product to your customers. FBM means the sellers will be the ones doing their fulfillment, which is how it is normally done on e-commerce websites.

If you decide to use the services of AMZN through FBA, you will have an easier time fulfilling orders. However, there are also certain limitations and restrictions when it comes to products that are accepted in FBA. So if you are choosing a niche product, make sure that you take into consideration FBA Prohibited Products too. That is if you plan to use FBA in the future.

Tip # 6 – Visit Reddit and other niche communities

Reddit is a website where different “subcategories” of a population are allowed to create their little communities. And guess what? This is also the perfect place to hunt for niche communities where you can sell your products, too.

Many niche product ideas come directly from niche communities. They directly tell you what they want, and you can feel the demand just by lurking in these communities. Because Reddit is where these niche communities are encouraged, you can use this to your advantage. Visit Reddit to research products that have high demand in their niche communities.

Tip #7 – Check for sponsored products ads

If you’re toying with the idea of selling in a particular niche, one way to find out if there’s a good demand for your prospective product is to run an Amazon search using a relevant keyword. Check through the search results to see if there are sponsored product ads. If there are, it would be safe to assume that there is significant market demand and sellers are generating revenue from their ads.

Tip #8 – Avoid going seasonal

Now, this is mandatory. If you want to be in a seasonal niche and sell a seasonal product such as Christmas decorations or costumes, you are free to do so. However, please consider that a seasonal product can only make the bulk of its sales during a certain season. If you are selling Christmas costumes, for example, don’t expect to make the same number of sales in July or August.

When choosing the right items to sell, avoid going for seasonal products. Selling seasonal products can severely limit when and where you can sell. And your business might not make profits during the off-season.

How to Identify a Profitable Niche Product

Picking a great niche is only one part of the struggle, the next phase involves finding a profitable product that allows you to make sales easily. There are many product options to choose from, so you have to be very careful to avoid picking an unprofitable product option. Being in a good niche does not necessarily guarantee the profitability of a product. So, here are a few things to keep in mind when trying to identify a profitable product option.

Demand: It goes without saying that product demand is one of the most important things to look out for before selling any product on Amazon. Search for products with at least 300 monthly sales, or 10 sales per day which will result in a decent baseline.

Can be sold between $10 – $70: Avoid selling products that fall on either pricing extreme. Stay away from products that are too expensive, but also avoid selling products that are likely to come off as cheap. The $10-70 range is a safe price range. Also, try as much as possible to choose products that you can sell for at least four times more than the cost price.

Small and lightweight: If you want to save money on shipping or storage (if you use FBA), avoid selling large and heavy products. This is because Amazon typically charges shipping and storage fees based on product dimensions. So, the best thing to do is to sell products that are not bigger than 18” x 14” x 8” and weigh less than 5lbs.

Fewer Reviews: Another way to identify products that have good demand but low competition is to check out the number of reviews. If the products in a certain niche all have more than 300-400 reviews, try not to sell them. Choose products that have a low number of reviews, preferably between 50 – 200 reviews.

One of the best strategies for choosing profitable products is to use Amazon product research software. With software, you can uncover untapped product options and unsaturated markets to sell in. ZonBase offers an extensive suite of tools to help you with product research and niche analysis. Using ZonBase tools, you can find thousands of product options that align with the criteria outlined above.

Three Factors to Consider When Fixing Product Prices on Amazon

According to Statista, there are more than 3 million active sellers on the AMZN marketplace right now. Around 1.3 million of these sellers joined in 2020, which means there are lots of new Amazon sellers to compete with. (Source: Statista)

So, what does this data mean to you? As a seller, this means that you have a myriad of competitors trying to take a sale away from you. Even if you know how to find products with high demand to sell on Amazon, it doesn’t matter if you can’t sell them at the right price. You cannot win a place in the buy box if your products aren’t priced competitively. We’ll also discuss the three Cs that directly impact your success on AMZN. Let’s get right into it:

If you want to make sales on Amazon, you cannot stop at just learning how to find profitable products. You have to go the extra mile and learn how to price your products properly. And to this, you’ll have to ensure that your product prices are not on either pricing extreme – too high or too low.

Setting high prices that are above your audience’s budget may cause you to lose customers, and low prices may discourage buyers because they’ll assume that your products are inferior.

Here are three factors to consider when fixing product prices:

  • Competition
  • Customers
  • Cost

As an Amazon FBA seller, competition, customers, and cost are the three things that you should pay attention to. These things directly impact your success as a seller and can make or break your business. Understanding how to integrate these 3 elements into your pricing scheme can help you increase your profit margins.

How to Price Amazon FBA Items: Top 3 Things to Consider

Competition

Amazon is an online marketplace where thousands of sellers already sell the same product. One good way to make yourself unique when you decide to sell on Amazon is to start selling private-label products. If you are not a brand owner or private label seller, then you cannot afford to be careless with your pricing.

With so many other sellers offering the same products, you can’t price yourself out of the customer’s reach. Sellers who have a slightly lower price than your product, without a doubt, will snatch your customers in an instant.

For this reason alone, researching your pricing and making it competitive is very important as a third-party seller.

Before you can attract customers with your low prices, you must start researching your customers first. The first thing on your agenda should be to look into the product reviews of your competitors. See whether customers are rating them highly because of their competitive pricing. Doing this will give you an idea of how you can price your product.

Do you want to price your product correctly? Then you must check whether the product you want to sell on Amazon gives equal or more value. If you have more value than what your competitors are providing, you already have an edge.

Checking your competitor’s products

You can always check your competitor’s product value by going beyond your process. You should always look into what the buyers are talking about your competitor’s products. This can be checked by looking into the product review section under each product. You can visit your competitor’s listing and read a few of your competitor’s reviews. You will have a general idea about their strengths and weaknesses.

If you find out that your product offers more value than that of your competitors, you shouldn’t fret. You can price higher than your competitors without any second thought. However, it will be a lot of effort to always prove that value to your customers. Making claims on product titles and descriptions category aren’t enough. You have to make your customer believe your worth.

You should have a different approach if your product gives an equal value to the competitors. Under such circumstances, you should price your product a little lower than your competitors. You must also consider that constantly reducing the price isn’t always great. Even in the name of competition, it can lead to a price war leading you to profit less than what you wanted.

Cost calculation

Calculating the cost of your product is the most important factor for deciding the correct pricing for your products. But, it’s a tough call to calculate your items’ cost. The values can range from the manufacturing cost of your product to the shipping cost to take your products to the fulfillment center.

amazon fees calculator

Costs you need to keep in mind

If you want your price to be calculated correctly you must consider the following cost factors accurately:

Storage Cost: This cost includes the cost of inventory if you are fulfilling your products all by yourself. If you are using the Amazon FBA service, you need to pay a separate fee for your use of Amazon’s storage centers.

Raw materials: Raw materials are any materials that are used in the manufacture of the complete product that you are selling. This cost includes the cost of materials like wood, plastic, clothes, etc.

Labor Costs: It includes the cost of human resources that you have to use to engage people to manufacture.

Shipping Costs: Your shipping costs cover the cost of transporting your goods from your supplier to your inventory storage center or fulfillment center. If you are getting your products from websites such as Alibaba, it can get expensive. However, the total cost of products from China is usually low. You need to know how to find the bestselling products to sell on Amazon.

Assembly Costs: This cost includes the value of assimilating different products. The raw materials used to bring the final product to the customers also include labor and machine costs.

Marketing Cost: It includes the cost of making available your products to the customers. This may incur costs like advertising costs, paying content writers, marketers, and graphic designers.

Cost of returns: This is one of the major fees that is added on top of other costs that you have to bear. This is because of the lost profit due to customers returning your products.

Taxes: This is the cost that you have to bear while paying the government as per their respective tax laws.

Other miscellaneous costs

These costs include other costs that are not specific as above but incur while making products available to the customers. It includes accounting fees, repairs, and insurance costs.

To get the average cost per item, add up all your costs. Then, divide the total cost by the number of the products that you produce in a given time.

Also, you need to calculate the profit percentage you want to achieve from each product you sell online. It is not enough that you know how to find a profitable product to sell on Amazon, you also need to make sure you are making enough profits to rotate your initial capital.

How To Find Profitable Products To Sell On Amazon

Customers

When it comes to a successful business, having a loyal customer base is an X-factor many sellers often overlook. Your business can only succeed if you have plenty of loyal customers supporting you. Without loyal customers, you will not have anyone to sell to. Loyal customers also spread your business through “word of mouth” marketing. Having a loyal customer base is as important as having trustworthy employees.

But how can your customers affect your product pricing? And what about the quote that says, “Build it, and they will come”? Isn’t it enough to create a successful AMZN store?

Well, the answer to this question is quite simple. Your customers affect what niche or category you want to target. Before you even start looking for a product to sell, when comes to selling your product?

The choice of what customer category you want to target can be done with a few simple steps. But mostly, by including the gathered cost data and the assessment of your competitors in your product category. Knowing the most profitable categories to sell on Amazon is very important if you want to make money there.

If you want to get ahead of your competitors, you can always do extensive research. Try and look for the weaknesses in your competitors’ listings. This is to gain an advantage over their poor product images, product reviews, and product descriptions.

Getting to know your customer intimately is always a benefit, it will help you to get the correct pricing for profitability. Find out what kinds of products other sellers are selling, and you can analyze this process.

Different Types of Customers That You Can Target

Here are certain types of customers that you can target:

  • Quality is driven: These types of customers are willing to spend more as long as they can see the quality. Because they are focused on quality, they also tend to be loyal customers. Once they find a store that produces the quality they want, they will likely return and buy more.
  • Bargain Hunter: This type of customer is always searching for the best price for the given product. They look at various sites and compare them to choose the lowest purchase price. They do not like spending too much, so it will be hard to sell expensive products to them.
  • Splurger: These types of customers are willing to spend their money on whatever they look appealing to at the first sight. They don’t care about the price of the items. If they want something, they will find a way to get it.

Shaping Your Product Price

The way you shape your product price should be considered based on the customer habits, tendencies, and predictability of the types of competitors. Even if you know how to find high demand products to sell on Amazon, it doesn’t mean anything. You still need to get to know your customers once and for all.

Also, there is a concern regarding raising the price of your product by a small percentage over the competitors. Doing this will question the interest of the quality-driven customers if the value offered by your product is equal to that of your competitors.

The only thing you should be stuck at is having a good grasp of your customer. If you can spend enough time researching, have a good grasp of your target audience. Spend some time researching and collecting data from existing and prospective customers.

Keep an eye on the highest category of customers you can target. And also take note of what is the highest volume of sales you can make to a category of customers.

How Important Is Pricing your Products on Amazon?

Pricing the products you sell on Amazon isn’t as easy as it seems. Without knowing the perfect strategy for pricing your product, you can end up overpricing or underpricing your merchandise.

According to a study published by the Harvard Business Review, a 1% price improvement can actually lead to an 11.1%. profit increase. That is a massive jump when it comes to the price-to-profit ratio; you can instantly increase your revenues just by changing your price by 1%.

The buying patterns of people are often the same. Many people will compare prices first before checking out the products added to their carts. If there is a lower-priced product, buyers will most likely know about it. And to be honest, the majority will prefer the one priced more competitively.

People will only spend way above their average budget when buying branded products. When it comes to non-branded and non-luxury products, not too many people will spend more than what is necessary.

At the end of the day, one of the easiest ways to generate maximum profit is to price your product competitively. And this means you always have to be wary of your competition.

In AMZN, 70% of the sales for a keyword search go to the Amazon sellers who are ranking on the first page. If you don’t have enough marketing budget to push your product to the top, pricing competitively is where you can make some changes.

Pricing correctly can help you dominate your product niche by letting you win the Buy Box. And increasing your sales will provide you with a best sellers rank that can help you get noticed by customers.

Conclusion

Pricing your product is not an easy task, and it will take time. You must give in all your time and ideas to price your product correctly. But once you set the price, your product’s ecosystem and branding will be set on autopilot. This means that finding the right pricing balance will determine the success of your overall selling efforts.

One of the major considerations in pricing is to mark your price as 99.99 instead of 100 dollars. Many studies find that this strategy is making a lot more difference in customers’ eyes. Maybe the added zeroes make customers think the price is higher than it should be. The difference between one cent can make your pricing more competitive and successful.

The product pricing strategy comes right after you choose the product niche. So, you must be careful in choosing the correct product niche by doing product research.

11 Best Amazon Keyword Tools For Amazon Sellers https://www.zonbase.com/blog/the-best-amazon-keyword-tools-for-amazon-sellers/ https://www.zonbase.com/blog/the-best-amazon-keyword-tools-for-amazon-sellers/#respond Wed, 20 Oct 2021 19:51:30 +0000 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/?p=6100 The dream of every Amazon seller is to get to the top of the website’s page 1 search results. And to do that, access to the best Amazon keyword tools is essential. AMZN is the most popular online shopping platform, with over 3 million active users. This means you’ll have users constantly visiting your listings every hour. Also, statistics show that most online shoppers bypass Google and start their product searches on Amazon (Source: Statista).

So, the most profitable thing for any seller is for his product to be seen within the website’s search results. If you can rank high on AMZ’s own search engine results, you’ll have a better chance of converting sales.

However, one thing that you’ll also have to take note of is the amount of competition you’ll have to face. The AMZ marketplace is saturated with millions of other sellers, some of whom sell the same products that you do. This means that you don’t have any other unique advantages that other sellers don’t also have. There is fierce competition on the platform on who should be on top. As every seller is racing to the top, they’ll do anything within the rules to succeed, just like you.

To get ahead of your competition, you need to use the best Amazon keyword tools on the market today. These tools can help you optimize your product listings and increase your conversions faster. Having access to the best Amazon keyword research tools will allow you to find relevant keywords for your listings without much manual effort.

Ready to learn what’s on our list of the best Amazon keyword tools out there? Let’s dive right in.

What are Amazon search keywords?

Google and Amazon are both search engines, except that they are wired differently. While the Google search engine allows you to search for information, Amazon’s search engine only allows you to search for and purchase products that are listed on its platform.

When customers search for a product using keywords, the search engine works on indexing content. AMZ uses the keyword that you typed in order to search its database for the best products that fall under the keywords you used. The most compatible products are placed on the first page. This format is done chronologically to quickly provide relevant results so that customers can have the best shopping experience.

For this, AMZ has developed its own Algorithm known as A9. The A9 Algorithm delivers the most relevant search results by relying on the keywords in your product listings. The algorithm uses keywords to determine what products you sell and who might be interested in them.

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to determining how to get to the top of the rankings. Even AMZ doesn’t really talk about or divulge how to get your listings on top in order to avoid abuse. However, there are accepted factors that ultimately affect and determine the possible ranking of a product listing given a keyword. This includes a number of sales, customer reviews, positive experience, and overall quality of the product listing. Having images that are of high quality also helps a lot.

Why Amazon Sellers Should Do Keyword Research

Product Search Result Improvement

The algorithm finds the customer’s search query in relation to the closeness of your keyword match. The closer your keywords are, the higher AMZN places your product listing in the search results. This helps you gain more visibility and generate more sales.

Just think about it-a baking mitten that is all about home and kitchen shouldn’t be recommended on a keyword query about games and toys, right? AMZ takes care of these by making the product search results more relevant. Hence, improving the overall customer experience as a result.

Better Seller Ranking

The keywords that you use will be trusted by AMZ when the keywords you use convert more and more customers. This helps to increase your seller ranking, and you will always retain the top position on the first page of the search results.

Amazon has a BSR (best seller ranking) that it updates every hour depending on the number of specific products sold within the said time period. If your products consistently sell using the keywords you are targeting, AMZ will think that your item is one of the most relevant products in its platform.

Competitive Edge

If you have the ability to target unique keywords, it will be easy for you to beat your competitors. Finding keywords that are not too high in competition but have good traffic from searches can lead you to products that are profitable. Actually, the key to finding a winning product is exactly this technique: high demand, but low competition.

Increased Conversions

The ultimate result of all your efforts to sell on AMZ is increased traffic. Yes, the more keywords you integrate into your listings, the more visible your products will be. If your product’s keywords match the product search, you will get a huge traffic.

However, traffic doesn’t mean a thing if your products aren’t related to the keyword search. If a user is searching for kitchen mittens, but baseball mittens were given as results, do you think the baseball mittens will sell? It’s highly unlikely, right? Shooting for the right keywords will make your products convert so much better.

Follow Best Practices

Keyword optimization is not a cheap practice. It helps you to optimize the entire business process. When your keywords attract the right traffic and help the customer find the right product, it ultimately helps you perform better on the other marketplaces also.

Best Amazon Product Finder and Research Tool for 2024 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/the-only-amazon-product-finder-tool-you-need/ https://www.zonbase.com/blog/the-only-amazon-product-finder-tool-you-need/#respond Sun, 17 Oct 2021 13:12:15 +0000 https://www.zonbase.com/blog/?p=6009 Product research is one of the most important aspects of every Amazon business. You can’t just sell any product you like. You must also sell products that the majority of your customers will buy. Essentially, these are profitable products that will earn you money.

But how do you find profitable products? How do you build a product database and discover product keywords that you can use to promote your products? The best way to do this is to use an Amazon product finder and research tool.

Amazon’s website does not offer much information about building a product database. This is because the site focuses more on the customer’s shopping experience. Amazon does provide a list of popular products, called the Best Seller’s List. But it is not the most reliable resource for product research. Also, what is popular today may not be popular next week. So you need to find products that drive sales consistently.

Scouring search result pages to mine some information would take hours and hours. That’s where a product finder tool comes into play.

What is a Product Finder Tool?

Amazon product research tools give you access to data about products in AMZN’s database. These tools allow you to search AMZN’s database for profitable products. These tools also provide information you can use to gauge a product’s potential for profit. This information includes sales history, monthly revenue, and so on.

By analyzing data from these tools, you get to make informed decisions. You also gain access to great suggestions for increasing sales and bringing in profit. This is helpful for private labels, dropshipping, wholesale selling, or retail arbitrage.

There are thousands of product finder tools available on the market right now. Some of them are specific software tools, while others are all-inclusive tools that not only come in handy for product research but also offer a wide range of tools for other business processes. A few of the most popular Amazon product finder and research tools are listed below.

Top 5 Amazon Product Finder and Research Tools for 2024

ZonBase

ZonBase is an all-inclusive Amazon software tool that offers up to four product research tools as well as a complete suite of seller tools to help you manage all other areas of your business. ZonBase’s suite consists of keyword research, listing optimization, and inventory management tools.

The software offers three paid plans – standard, legendary, and diamond which cost $37, $67, and $132 respectively.

Amazon Best Seller List

The Amazon Bestseller List, as the name implies, is an extensive list of bestselling products on Amazon. This list is curated by Amazon and it contains all the products listed on the platform; these products are ranked based on their sales volume, so the higher the rank of a product, the higher its sales potential.

The Bestseller list is not a paid resource, it can be easily accessed on the marketplace, so it is considered one of the best Amazon product finder and research tools for new and existing sellers. However, considering the tough competition in the marketplace, the bestseller list may not be a sufficient product research tool.

Amazon Movers and Shakers

If you are trying to find new products for your store, this is one section you should not take your eyes off. This section features products that have made the biggest sales (measured by percentage increase and sales rank) over the last 24 hours. This page is updated every hour, so the products displayed vary from time to time. But if a product shows up there, then there is a good chance that it is a profitable product option.

AMZ Scout

AMZ Scout claims to be one of the best product research tools on the internet right now. Although the tool also offers some other features, its major strength lies in product research. The tool offers two yearly plans and one monthly plan. The yearly plans cost $259/year and $359/year while the monthly plan costs $49.99/month.

ZonGuru

ZonGuru is a simple product research tool that allows you to search through Amazon’s database of over 350 million products and provides you with enough information to make a decision. The software offers a free plan and two paid plans that cost $39/month and $49/month respectively.

What is The Best Product Finder Tool For My Business?

You don’t need many Amazon product finder and research tools for your business. You only need one that provides accurate data and is simple to use. But if your goal is to build a successful Amazon business, you will need more than a product finder tool. Scaling your business involves tons of keyword research and frequent listing optimization that can only be done using software.

Hence, it’s best to invest in a tool that not only offers product research tools but also offers keyword and listing optimization tools. On these grounds, it is safe to say that ZonBase is the best Amazon product finder tool for your business. Zonbase has several features designed to help with finding the best-selling products on AMZ. In this next segment, we’ll talk about these features and how they work.

Overview of the ZonBase Suite

Product Finder or Research Tools

ZonResearch

Not sure where to start your product research? ZonResearch is perfect for discovering products and niche opportunities. • You can save your search as a preset so that you don’t have to set the same filters another time

ZonResearch works best with the Zonbase Chrome Extension which we’ll look at next.

Chrome Extension

The Zonbase Chrome Extension is a powerful software that displays data about products. The tool often focuses on products that appear in Amazon search results. After getting ZonResearch’s suggestions, enter a general keyword in the Amazon search box.

The Chrome Extension will show you relevant product data. This information includes price, best seller’s rank, sales history, and monthly sales. It also shows data for estimated monthly revenue and the number of reviews.

It also provides a breakdown of other important data.

How to Use Chrome Extension

  • Install the Zonbase Chrome Extension
  • Run your search on Amazon.com
  • When the results appear, click the ZB icon on the extension toolbar
  • The extension shows you relevant data about the products.

Sales Estimator

One of the best online estimator tools is this one. If you already have product ideas in mind, you need the Sales Estimator feature. It will help you assess their profitability. The Sales Estimator shows you how many sales a specific item gets in a month. Information about a product’s monthly unit sales shows you the product’s demand level. It also guides you on how much inventory you should be storing.

How to Use the Sales Estimator Tool

  • Get the ASIN or URL of the product you’re interested in
  • Paste in the Search box and click Next
  • The online estimator tool calculates the estimated number of sales it makes in a month

Hot Products

Remember we said AMZ’s BSR is not the most reliable resource for product research? That’s because many of the products on that list are certainly sold by many competing sellers. And if you want to make it big on Amazon, you’re better off selling products with high demand but low competition. And one of the quickest ways to find that is on the Hot Products list on Zonbase.

This tool is a unique tool that shows products that belong to the Amazon Top 100 Most Gifted Products of the Day. The products on this list usually have increasing sales trends and less than 30 reviews. This list is updated on an hourly basis.

You can also find a possible supplier for any item on this list as the tool redirects you to Alibaba.com.

How to Use Hot Products

  • This online estimator tool will create a list of the top 100 most gifted products on AMZN that you can simply look through
  • But, like ZonResearch, you can also filter through to find profitable products.
  • To do this, click the ‘Advanced Filter’ on the top right.
  • Next, select your desired categories and set your filters. Filters include price, reviews, average monthly units sold, and monthly revenue.
  • Click ‘Show Product’
  • The tool generates results that match your criteria

Product Validator

ZonBase not only suggests profitable products for your store. It also contains a product validator tool. This tool helps you confirm the profitability of your product choices or ideas. Using this tool, you can validate your product options and reduce risks.

This tool does not work solely on artificial intelligence. It uses the help of a team of AMZ experts. These professionals will review your product choices. They will also help you narrow them down based on previous sales information.

The tool provides you with a reliable method to select products for your store. The tool offers value for its price with unbeatable simplicity.

How To Use The Product Validator Tool

  • Sign up at Zonbase.com (include a link)
  • On the dashboard, click ‘Product Validator’
  • Upload a picture of your item or input your suppliers’ link
  • Your item will be reviewed by our Launch managers
  • The item is scored on a scale of 1-20 and you are given a detailed scorecard. You will save time and money by running your products through this tool.

ZonBase is the best Amazon product finder tool for 2024. But what is product research without an effective keyword and listing optimization strategy? ZonBase is not just a product research tool. It is an all-inclusive AMZ seller tool. In other words, it houses a well-distributed set of tools to cater to your business needs.

If you find the right products but do not optimize your listings, your visibility will suffer. Low visibility results in little to no sales. How then do you optimize your listings? By using relevant, high-converting keywords. Although this is not the only way to optimize your listings, it is the most important.

Keyword Research Tools

Keywords

Keywords are crucial in determining how visible your listings are. This keyword tool brings you the best keywords for your listings. The tool reveals important hidden information about keywords. It also uses search trends to show you estimated monthly searches and volume.

You also gain access to unlimited keyword suggestions. The suggestions are usually based on Amazon search results or competitors’ keywords. Using these keywords allows you to earn more money while incurring fewer costs.

How To Use The Keyword Tool

  • In the dashboard, click on ‘Keywords’
  • Type in any keyword you want
  • Within seconds, you will have access to similar keyword recommendations

ZonTracker

One thing you should avoid doing is filling up your listings with keywords that do not convert. ZonTracker is a keyword-tracking tool that helps you track your keywords’ performance. This keyword tracker keeps you up-to-date about any changes in your keywords.

Additionally, it displays competitor keyword information and keyword information for different products. All you have to do is pick a keyword that you’d like to track, then leave the tool to do the rest.

How To Use ZonTracker

  1. Find the ASIN of any competitor on Amazon and copy the URL
  1. Select ‘Add new product’ in ZonTracker
  1. Choose the keyword(s) you would like to track and enter them
  1. Select the product variations to track, click the Save button, and the product will be added.

Listing Tools

Listify

This tool allows you to create product listings using your preferred specifications. But it also allows you to do this by checking out your competitors’ listings. You can use their keywords in your listings for increased conversions.

You should track your sales growth, and optimize your listings to increase sales. Research relevant keywords and include them in your listings for optimization.

With this tool, you can find the perfect combination of keywords for your listings. You can use these keywords in your titles, description, and bullet points. Using branded keywords in your listings puts you at risk of losing your account. Listify can help you identify and avoid blacklisted keywords.

How To Use Listify

  • Visit Amazon and copy the ASIN or URL of the product that is closest to yours
  • In the Listify search bar, paste the Url and click “retrieve keywords”
  • We will provide instant keyword information for the product.
  • We will provide you with the keywords, bullet points, and titles of competitors. Then you can create your listing based on these terms.

The best way to ensure sales is to have an optimized product listing. It can’t be easier than this.

Listing Optimizer

Using Listing Optimizer, sellers can bypass Amazon’s algorithm. Need an easy way to hack the algorithm and improve your product ranking? Use Listing optimizer.

With this tool, you can organically show up on page one of search results. As a result, you spent less on promotions and sponsored ads. You also gain access to expert guidance. Your keywords will be researched, and your listings optimized by a team of experts.

How Does Listing Optimizer Work

  • To win over Amazon’s search algorithm, we create high-quality product listings. Your listings need to convince your buyers as well as the search engine algorithm.
  • To convert visitors into buyers, we make your listings as effective as possible. Optimizing your listings using relevant keywords, bullet points, and descriptions works the magic.

What To Look Out For When Choosing An Amazon Product Finder and Research Tool

To be profitable, products must meet certain criteria. An ideal Amazon product finder and research tool must also meet certain criteria. Hence, when choosing a product research tool, you should choose tools that pay attention to the following:

  • Minimal shipping costs
  • Market demand and competition
  • Ease of sourcing the products
  • Price

ZonBase takes all these factors into consideration. So when we say ZonBase is the best Amazon product finder and research tool, you know what we’re talking about. This tool is a worthy investment for sellers who are looking to scale their businesses.

How Much Does the Best Amazon Product Finder and Research Tool Cost?

Zonbase has two plans, and you are charged either monthly or annually. We recommend the annual plan so that you can save some money. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Standard Plan – $37 per month/ $444 per year
  • Legendary Plan – $67 per month / $804 per year
  • Diamond Plan – $132 per month / $1594 per year

You can only use the Chrome Extension tool if you subscribe to the Legendary Plan. So you’re better off choosing that.

Like you, many sellers often wonder if there are any proven strategies to help them find products to sell on Amazon. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find products to sell on Amazon. But first, let’s get familiar with the things you should keep in mind when choosing items to sell online.

Let’s dive in.

How to Choose a Good Product for Your Online Store

What should you look out for when you’re trying to find the best items to sell online? Here are some things to keep in mind.

Choose Products that can be Sold Between $25 – $50

You’ll have to find a profitable product before you start selling online and one of the first things to consider is the price. Products that you sell for less than $10 will be less likely to make you money unless you sell a lot. And by a lot, we mean thousands of them. On the other hand, products that cost over $100 may be too expensive for your audience, especially if they aren’t branded.

The best price range for a profitable product is between $25 – $50. Above that price point, customers will be less likely to buy from you. As a result, your conversion rates will plummet as soon as the prices increase. So, don’t forget to keep your profit margins in mind when fixing your product prices.

Can be Sold in any Season

If you want to keep your business running throughout the year, then you should steer clear of seasonal items. If a product is mostly in-demand during a particular period, there will definitely be a decrease in online sales once the period ends. So, when you’re choosing products for your own online store, remember to choose products that can be sold all year round.

Low Number of Reviews

Customers do not joke with reviews. If a product has thousands of reviews, there’s most likely a high demand for it. That’s a good thing, but it can also translate into high competition, which can harm your own online business in the long run. A perfect spot is to aim for products with fewer than 100–200 reviews. This means there is enough demand for the product, but not too much saturation in the market yet.

Small and Lightweight

This is another factor you must consider when finding products because shipping costs are usually higher for bulky items. Furthermore, you don’t want to sell fragile items because they might get damaged in transit. So, try to aim for products that are easy to ship, small, and lightweight since these products incur fewer fulfillment fees.

Simple, Low-cost, and Easy to manufacture

The best way to avoid quality control or manufacturing challenges is to avoid selling glass, electronics, and highly complex products. Products that have lithium batteries, for example, cost more to fulfill when using FBA. Television sets and large computer monitors also fall into the category of “products to avoid”.

These are the most important qualities to look out for when choosing ideas to sell on AMZN. Regardless of the category or business model you use, always ensure you screen your product options using these criteria.

How to Find Products to Sell on Amazon

Now that you know what to look out for in a profitable product, how do you find products to sell? Here are 5 simple ways to find the most profitable products on Amazon.

Use Product Research Tools

Product research is one of the most important things you should do before you start selling on AMZN. Since your success on AMZN is largely dependent on the products you sell, product research must be taken seriously. However, this process is not as easy as it seems.

Thankfully, you can use efficient product research tools like ZonBase to uncover the best-selling items on Amazon. With ZonBase’s ZonResearch and Hot Products tools, you can access product suggestions in any category. Here are five simple steps to help you take your product research to the next level using the ZonResearch tool.

  • Open the ZonResearch tool from your ZonBase dashboard
  • Choose your marketplace, select your preferred categories, and set the filters based on your specifications.
  • Click the “Search” button

Once you click the search button, ZonResearch sifts through millions of products to generate a comprehensive list of profitable product suggestions.

Not convinced about the validity of the product options you get? Run them through a chrome extension. The ZonBase Chrome extension is a web app that allows you to run customized searches and validate your product options. Using this tool, you can scour AMZN’s database to uncover relevant product options for your ecommerce store.

The tool gives you access to a list of reliable suppliers to source your products. Plus, it is easy to use and you can gain access to tons of product and supplier options. To access the tool, follow the same steps we outlined for the ZonResearch tool.

Check the Amazon Bestsellers List

There are so many products listed on AMZN and choosing a product to sell can be difficult. To make it less stressful, AMZN has curated the Amazon Bestsellers list. The Bestsellers list is a list of the top 100 products on Amazon. These products are ranked based on sales volume.

This method is one of the easiest and most reliable ways to find the bestselling items on Amazon. Plus, the Bestsellers list can be accessed just by following four simple steps:

  • First, open the bestsellers page
  • Next, select the categories that interest you.
  • Then, streamline your search by picking specific subcategories.
  • Create a list of the products you think will do well based on the seller rank.

The Bestsellers list is updated every hour, so nothing stays the same for too long. So, before selecting products from the list, be sure to check out previous yearly sales trends.

Use the Amazon Trend Report

Another effective way to find products on Amazon is to check what the trending products are. Product trends are a great way to get into the market. But the downside to running with trends is that the demand for the products may reduce after a while.

Check the trend report to see what products customers are raving about. You can follow these steps to find product options from the report:

  • Open the Amazon Trend Report page.
  • Then scroll to the bottom of the page to see the trending products on AMZN
  • Click on ‘Learn more’ to access more trending product options
  • Make a list of the products you’re interested in.

Sellers often mistake the trends report for the bestsellers list, but they are not the same. So, you can use both resources simultaneously when searching for product suggestions. Note that the trends report is also updated frequently.

Use Google Trends

Almost everything can be found on Google and ideas are no exception. Want to find the best-selling products online in different categories across various marketplaces? Google trends analytics is a great resource.

Google searches are an effective way to select the best product options amid a plethora of choices. You can see the trending products in your target market over time by looking at the Google Trends data. The search tab’s comparison also provides you with useful information about the products you’re considering.

Check Out Other Marketplaces

AMZN is the largest online marketplace, but it is not the only marketplace. Usually, customers have similar interests across different marketplaces. So, if you want to find items to sell online; on Amazon to be precise, you should check out other marketplaces. Here is all you have to do:

  • Go to other marketplaces like Alibaba, eBay, Aliexpress, and even Walmart.
  • Look for the most popular products on these platforms. You can check the “What’s Trending Now” section on Alibaba or click on “Explore Popular Categories” on eBay.
  • Make a list of the most popular items.
  • Lastly, check the bestsellers list to see how the products are ranked based on performance. This will help you decide whether to sell the product on AMZN or not.

You’re likely to come across some products at cheaper prices on marketplaces like Alibaba and Aliexpress. If you decide to sell those products, you can source them from there and resell them on AMZN through retail arbitrage.

Use an Amazon Keyword Research Tool

One of the best ways to uncover profitable product options is to observe what people are searching for. If a product has a high search volume, then there is high demand for it and it’s likely to do well on AMZN.

Keyword research tools are the easiest ways to discover which keywords customers are using frequently. ZonBase offers keyword tools to help you find popular keywords and see how many searches each of them gets monthly.

Using the keywords tool, you can discover high-performing keywords that do not have high competition. In addition to product ideas, keywords can also help you optimize your listings and improve your PPC campaigns. The ZonBase keyword tool also provides advanced filters to help you narrow down your search based on your preferred specifications.

Follow these simple steps to find top-performing keywords using the ZonBase keyword tool:

  • Open the Keywords tool in your ZonBase dashboard.
  • Enter the product or keyword you want to search for in the search bar and choose your marketplace.
  • Click ‘Search’. The tool will generate a list of relevant keywords with high search volume. It will also come up with a smart score that indicates the relevance of the keyword. The tool also provides a seasonality indicator that shows the popularity of the product. You will find this metric useful if you’re considering selling a seasonal product.

You’ll also gain access to a word cloud that contains a list of other terms that are related to your target keyword.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see other keywords that are related to your target keyword. You’ll also be able to see the estimated monthly search volume for each keyword.

  • Come up with product ideas based on the keyword search volume. Then create a list of potential products based on the search results.
